Tips for burning your Herbal Intention Candles

Candle Burning Tips

Trim the wick of your candle first if it is too long.  Place your candle on a steady, solid surface, away from pets or anything that could catch fire.

Soy candles burn best when you allow the wax to melt all the way across the container on the first burn.  Soy wax has a memory to it. If you blow it out when it's only halfway across, the next time you light it, it will follow that same burn path and be harder to reach the sides and melt all the wax evenly.

Use Extra Caution with your Herbal Intention Candles

Use extra caution with any candles that have dried herbs floating in the wax. Depending on the container, amount of wax left, and length of time left burning, the herbs can tend to pool towards the flame when nearing the bottom. Most float away, but some float into the center and can catch fire on there own a bit.  This doesn't happen often, but it can, so watch your intention candles well.  If this starts to happen, you can blow it out and allow the herbs to redistribute more evenly as the wax cools back down.  When all you have left are herbs, your candle is done, do not continue burning past the wax.

NEVER LEAVE HERBAL CANDLES BURNING UNATTENDED.

They are intended for short term burning while you are doing your intention work.  You may blow out and relit your intention candles many times. But it is a good idea to try and allow the wax to melt all the way to the edge of the container so that it doesn't tunnel down in the center.

NOTE:  Turquoise Moon grinds all of the herbs and dried flowers down into a powder form to create your intention tealight candles, instead of leaving them whole, as in the larger tin candles. By grinding them down, this takes away most of the extra fire hazard of herbal candles with whole pieces of dried flowers and herbs floating in them.  This extra grinding process makes Turquoise Moon Tealights safer to light and burn all the way down in one intentional lighting.

Wick Trimming Tips

Trim your wick down to 1/4" long before each lighting.  If you have a candle that is struggling to burn all the way to the sides, leave the wick longer to help produce more heat.  If your wick is curling sideways and causing an uneven burn, blow it out, let it cool, trim the wick and light it again.

Intention Setting Tips

Candles have been used for hundreds of years for candle magic and candle blessing rituals across all cultures.  There is pure magic in the flame of a candle when you choose to set a powerful intention for yourself and use it as your tool.
